Two friendly matches were played against the Colombo Cricket Club in Taoyuan on June 24, 2001.

A Brief Report.

We enjoyed playing with the Sri Lankans on Sunday. We lost both the matches quite narrowly. Our fielding was the main culprit.

In the first match they made 106 all out in 21 overs. We made 89 in 20 overs. There was a batting collapse and we lost four wickets in the first two overs. Although we recovered a bit it was not enough to win the match.

In the second match the Sri Lankans made 139 for 8 in 15 overs. They were lucky to get away with some wild hitting thanks to our poor fielding. However, we made 126 for 5 in the stipulated 15 overs. Though we lost the match technically , I was very happy with the team's performance. We played the match with controlled aggresion. We are planning to invite those guys over to Hsinchu shortly.

Saturday July 7. Seven-a-Side match in Ping Tung (Sugar Factory Baseball Ground).

18 Over match. Batters retired at 50 and could return at the fall of the last wicket. Last man could continue batting. Any sub fielders allowed.

Game started around 1430 between Ping Tung and KaoHsiung. This game is reported on because Kaohsiung was assisted in its efforts by a member of the Hsinchu side, Grant Dexter. Kaohsiung won the toss and batted first accumulating exactly 100 for the loss of three(?). Dexter batted through scoring 45(?) and was run out off the last ball of the innings attempting a suicidal single. Captain Rob scored 20-30 as well.

Ping Tung chased and were restricted by some tight bowling from 'Sax' and Tom, but the target proved just too small and they easily overhauled it in the 13th over with Andrew Carrick in punishing form.
